Omo Mohammed, 48, tells News 12 Connecticut that the past six months have been a living nightmare, and the killing of Floyd has only added to her grief.
Mubarak Soulemane, 19, who Mohammed says suffered from schizophrenia, was fatally shot by a state trooper in West Haven after a high-speed car chase from Norwalk on I-95 on Jan. 15.
Mohammed says she's calling for an end to police brutality. Her legal team says there is a parallel between the two cases, each involving a black man killed by a law enforcement officer.
Rev. Al Sharpton helped focus the national spotlight on Soulemane's case just days after his death.
Authorities say Soulemane stole a car in Norwalk and fled from police, leading to a high-speed chase.
